Kayak Public Transit (HART Bus)

The City of Hermiston contracts with Kayak Public Transit to operate a free fixed-route bus service within the city which is open to the general public.  This service is called the Hermiston Area Regional Transit (HART).  A detailed schedule for the HART route is available through Kayak's website at the link below.  However it is recommended to simply type your destination in to your smart phone's mapping tool (i.e. Google Maps), and click on the transit/bus icon to see the best recommendation for getting to your destination on the HART.

  • Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 7am to 7pm
  • Population Served:  Open to all general public.
  • Area Served:  A fixed route within the city limits of Hermiston with several connections to a Kayak bus to Pendleton.

Who pays for the bus service?

Local transit programs including HART and subsidized taxi rides are funded through the state transportation tax. The bus service is free to passengers.

How are the routes and times determined?

The city identified the most frequented locations in Hermiston for shopping, medical care, and government services and worked with Kayak to develop routes that connected these places to residential areas. These routes and times are adjusted annually based on ridership data and user surveys.

Where is the nearest stop to me?

The full daily route can be found here or you can use any smartphone map app to find the quickest public transit route from your current location to your desired destination by simply clicking the bus icon in the app.  The smartphone apps also allow you to plan for future trips by inputting your destination and your own address along with the day and time you’d like to arrive, and it will give you several options. What if I need to get somewhere outside of Hermiston?

The WORC Taxi program provides service anywhere in the Hermiston, Umatilla, and Stanfield zip Codes.  Kayak also provides daily free inter-city bus routes to Pendleton & Umatilla. Routes can be accessed through the website or by using your smartphone map app.

What if I am unable to use the bus due to disability?
